The fact that this game is being played on Thursday night, in Ames, Iowa, and that Oklahoma has not lost to Iowa State in 17 consecutive games only adds more intrigue to that story line.

In one stretch in the all-time series between these two schools, who have been playing each other since 1928, Oklahoma won 44 of 46 games. And one of the two games in which the Sooners did not come out on top ended in a tie.

Here are a dozen more numbers to know to get you ready for Thursday night:

6 – Iowa State has led at halftime in six of its last 10 games against a Big 12 opponent.

9 – Oklahoma has won its last nine true road games and 20 of the last 22.

11 – Just as he was against Kansas a week ago, Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops is 11-0 against Iowa State

16 – Iowa State’s rank nationally in red zone offense. The Cyclones have scored 23 of the 25 times they have been inside the opponent’s 20-yard line this season. That is a 92 percent success rate, second best in the Big 12 to Kansas State, which has a red-zone offense success rate of 97 percent.

16 – The Sooners are a perfect 16-0 in games played at Iowa State’s Jack Trice Stadium.

18 – Iowa State has lost 18 consecutive games against a ranked opponent. The last time the Cyclones defeated a ranked team was in 2012, a 37-23 win over 15th-ranked TCU.

46 – In the last 46 meetings between Oklahoma and Iowa State, the Sooners are 44-1-1.

81 – This will be the 81st time these two schools have met in football. Oklahoma has a 73-5-2 record all-time vs. Iowa State.

301 – Passing yardage by Iowa State quarterback Jacob Park against Kansas State last Saturday. He threw for 250 of that total in the second half.

1960 – The last time Oklahoma lost a game at Iowa State. The Cyclones beat the Sooners 10-6 that season. They also won the following season in Norman.

1984 – Iowa State’s first night game at Jack Trice Stadium was on Oct. 20, 1984. The opponent that night was the Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners, ranked No. 2 in the nation at the time of that game, narrowly held on for a 12-10 victory.

1990 – The last time Iowa State beat Oklahoma. The Cyclones prevailed 33-31 in that game, played in Norman. Before that, the Cyclones had not beaten the Sooners since 1961.
