Howe and Maple Join Wrestling Staff

"University of Oklahoma head wrestling coach Mark Cody has announced the addition of two former OU student-athletes and NCAA champions to his coaching staff. Andrew Howe has been hired as an assistant coach, while Kendric Maple will serve as a volunteer assistant coach. Both Howe and Maple are coming off impressive and decorated collegiate careers. Howe is a four-time All-American, while Maple earned three such honors. The duo joins assistant coach Michael Lightner, who is also an NCAA champion and four-time All-American. Sooner Sports"

D-League Alum Romero Osby Puts NBA Dreams On Hold For Financial Stability

"Osby only appeared in three games for the Summer Magic, putting up 8.7 points in 22.9 minutes per game. It wasn’t anything flashy or as productive as his performance the summer before, but that’s not what Osby’s game is marked for. He’s the player that does all the little things on the court that leads to victories; he harnesses the ever elusive intangibles that players either have, or don’t. With that being said, Osby was faced with a decision at the end of Summer League. Should he try to grind his way to the NBA in the D-League or chase a lucrative contract overseas? With a family in mind, Osby chose the latter. Ridiculous Upside"

Murray planning on a good season delivering a new contract

"While there has been a ton of talk early in training camp about the Dallas Cowboys working on new deals for tackle Tyron Smith and receiver Dez Bryant, all has been quiet on the DeMarco Murray front. Murray is in the final year of his rookie deal. Vice-president Stephen Jones readily acknowledges talks are ongoing with Smith and Bryant, but said no extension was forthcoming for Murray. Jones said they were just going to let things play out with Murray. There will be no talks with his agent about a new contract until after the season. Star-Telegram"

Sooners’ secondary gets ready for some changes

"There’s a reason Oklahoma is the preseason favorite to win the Big 12 Conference and a front-runner to get a spot in the first College Football Playoff. The experience – especially on defense – is the leading cause. However, defensive coordinator Mike Stoops cautions job security doesn’t exist in his secondary. Muskogee Phoenix"

RB Damien Williams Climbing Dolphins’ Depth Chart

"There are currently two D Williams participating in training camp for the Miami Dolphins. Damian Williams, the former Tennessee Titans WR, has had success early in camp. The other Damien Williams (note the spelling change), is also enjoying his own quick start, and has an outstanding opportunity in front of him. Because of Miami’s current uncertainty at the RB position, Oklahoma Sooner Damien Williams is my #4 player to watch in training camp this off season. Phin Phanatic"

Ravens corner Dominique Franks getting up to speed after rough start to camp

"Veteran cornerback Dominique Franks regards the Ravens’ conditioning test as grueling enough that he doesn’t want to ever have to run it again. After initially not passing the series of timed interval runs at the start of training camp, Franks eventually passed and was activated from the nonfootball injury list Sunday after missing three days of practice. “I didn’t know it would be that tough,” Franks said Monday night following a practice at M&T Bank Stadium. “I learned on the first day. Whoo! I definitely know now. If I’m able to sign back here, I’ll definitely be coming in the offseason program so I won’t have to run it again.” The Baltimore Sun"
