Audio: Norman Police release 911 phone call from Joe Mixon incident

Thanks to The Oklahoman, audio from the 911 call has been obtained from the night (or morning, depending on your perception of time) Joe Mixon was involved in an off-campus altercation.

If you’ve been under a rock, Joe Mixon allegedly assaulted an OU student at Picklemans Gourmet Café on Norman’s campus corner. Thanks to NewsOK, we now have the 911 phone call made by a Pickleman’s employee reporting the incident.

Possibly for lack of better words, the employee stated the alleged victim was “clocked in the face.” Also, the alleged attacker  left the establishment before the phone call was made.

The Oklahoma Sooners freshman running back hired a defense attorney, Kevin Finlay, and since the incident has deleted his Twitter account.

Finlay, his attorney, released a statement yesterday emphasizing his client has “done nothing wrong.” Also, Mixon’s attorney says his client’s involvement in the alleged assault was “instinctual” and he “defended himself.”

Security tapes from Picklemans have yet to be released. However, Joe Mixon has yet to be charged with assault, and appears to be cooperating with the Norman Police Department as they carry out their investigation.

The University of Oklahoma is undergoing its own investigation. And worth noting, Oklahoma’s football team reports to fall camp this week.

We will keep you up-to-date on this ongoing Joe Mixon saga.
