Reporting from Dallas, Texas, I thought I’d recap the day’s events from the first session of the 2014 Big 12 Media Days.
Oklahoma will not participate until tomorrow, but Monday was a good time to get to know some of the Big 12’s best.
Kansas, TCU, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and the defending Big 12 champs Baylor Bears were on hand for Monday. Big 12 Conference Commissioner Bob Bowlsby, also, addressed the media to kick off the day.
I didn’t get a chance to hear much from possible Heisman candidate Bryce Petty, but I had some really good conversations with TCU’s Chucky Hunter and Joey Hunt. Also, Sam Carter was a treat.
From Oklahoma State, I managed to get in a few questions with Kevin Peterson and Jhejuan Seales. Those guys seemed to be very pleased with the team’s progress and are amped up for their season opener against the defending National Champions.
Texas Tech’s Bradley Marquez provided some good answers about Kliff Kingsbury and the state of Texas Tech football. He, also, believes the Sooners have a really good one in Baker Mayfield.
Lastly, I caught Kansas linebacker Ben Heeney, who’s about as awesome as his beard. Dude was cracking jokes and is really confident about the Jayhawks this year.
We will be back tomorrow to talk with Trevor Knight and the rest of the student-athletes in Dallas.
