Ever since Oklahoma won the Sugar Bowl, it’s been nothing but good times for the Sooners. Picking up Joe Mixon on National Signing Day. Nearly 50,000 fans showed up for OU’s spring game. Oh, and everyone is pegging OU as a big contender for a spot in the College Football Playoff.
However, there is one little speed bump OU is trying to overcome.
Back in January, Frank Shannon, Oklahoma’s leading tackler in 2013, was accused of sexual assault.
The woman did not press charges, but Shannon’s future at the University of Oklahoma remains up in the air.
While nothing is official until we see Shannon on the field against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs for OU’s season opener, Bob Stoops said Thursday Shannon is still on the team and working out with OU.
Take all of this for what it is worth, because it is still an on-going process according to Stoops.
Oklahoma will have to make a few adjustments if Shannon can’t go at linebacker. While Jordan Evans is poised to be that guy and looked great in the spring game, Shannon is a talented player who the Sooners will need to uphold the new standard set by Mike Stoops.
We will keep you updated on the situation as we learn more.
