Michael Hunnicutt, Kicker
2013 Stats: 24/27 field goals, 47/48 PAT’s, one reception for a touchdown

Senior Michael Hunnicutt, is virtually the definition of automatic. The field goal kicking game was a weakness for OU prior to Hunnicutt kicking the rock between the up rights. Since he took over, he has scored 345 points for his career.

He notably, was part of a trick play against the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Hunnicutt slipped out the back and holder Grant Bothun threw an eight yard pass to tie up Bedlam, eventually going for the win.

He had three misses on the year. He only made one attempt from 50+ yards out in the loss to Baylor.

He was a perfect 3/3 from the 40-49 yard range, but missed two additional FG’s at 30-39 yards. For a kicker that is converting 89% of his field goals, and 98% of his point after attempts, misses happen, but the issue could be a lot worse. It has been a lot worse.

He hasn’t had to attempt to kick past the 50 much. This is a necessity for success at the next level. That would serve the Sooners as well, having the ability to kick 50+ yards, if need be.

Expect Hunnicutt to compete for a Groza.
