Keith Ford, Running Back

2013 Stats: 23 carriers, 134 rushing yards, 5.8 yards per carry, one touchdown

Keith Ford, a four-star running back from Cypress Texas, has great potential to be a bruising power running back, capable of getting short yardage first downs and scoring on short yardage touchdown situations.

His freshman year, he did not get to play many downs, but the plays that he was involved in were all important in every game.

He ran three of Oklahoma’s 23 rushing attempts in the Allstate Sugar Bowl against an Alabama Crimson Tide defense that is considered to be one of the best run stopping defense’s in college football. He only amassed 15 total yards, but every play, he kept the Oklahoma drive’s alive which enabled OU to come away from the Mercedes-Benz Super Dome with a BCS Trophy.

It is hard to give constructive criticism on a player who only saw the field a handful of times during the year. All running back’s need to be patient when they have the ball in their hands.

He will need to continue to practice picking the right gaps to run. A running back who isn’t patient, isn’t successful.

Expect Ford to be one of the featured backs, though, in 2014.
