OU’s seniors continue to be recognized for their play this season. This time with the East-West Shrine Game.
Seniors Brennan Clay and Gabe Ikard accepted invitations to the annual exhibition, which features players from across the country in an all-star game at Tropicana Field.
Making the trip to St. Petersburg, Florida, will be senior running back Brennan Clay.
Clay has emerged as OU’s premier tailback, rushing for 913 yards on 158 carriers. Clay scored six touchdowns this season and averaged 5.8 yards per carry.
He really powered and pounded for every yard, and broke out as a starter after waiting for his turn to become Oklahoma’s main rusher.
Helping him achieve success in 2013 was Gabe Ikard, who will also participate in the Shrine Game.
Ikard has been busy as of late being recognized for his accomplishments on and off the field. He was a Rimington Trophy finalist, but was snubbed of the award given annually to the nation’s best center.
Ikard’s been a leader for the team all season long, fully accepting the responsibilities bestowed upon him.
The two will get to play in front of a national audience one more time after the Sugar Bowl and before the NFL Draft. The game is scheduled for January 18, 2014. Kick-off is set for 3 P.M. CST, and will be televised on the NFL Network.
