Oklahoma vs. Notre Dame: 3rd Quarter Recap

After a second quarter of action that saw both teams simply eat up the clock, both the Oklahoma Sooners and Fighting Irish of Notre Dame came out in the fourth quarter as teams on fire. Here is a look at the Oklahoma vs. Notre Dame third quarter action.

Oklahoma took the ball first, but after one completion, the team went four and out and punted the ball. Notre Dame responded by handing the ball off to George Atkinson III on the first play after that punt and he went 80 yards for a touchdown to make the score 21-14, with the Sooners still in the lead.

The Sooners answered with a solid drive as Bell drove the Sooners down the field, completing 3-of-4 passes, but he was once again unable to succeed on a third down run and the Sooners had to settle for a field goal, to extend their lead to 24-14.

Notre Dame answered with a 3-and-out and OU once again drove the length of the field. Sadly for the Sooners, Blake Bell was injured on the drive and had to head to the locker room under his own power, probably to get an IV for cramping. Trevor Knight came in and looked good running, but couldn’t get the Sooners into the end zone. OU settled for another field goal, to extend their lead to 27-14, and Notre Dame ended the third quarter driving.

Oklahoma vs. Notre Dame third quarter score:

  • Oklahoma Sooners: 27
  • Notre Dame: 14
