After an exciting first quarter that saw the Oklahoma Sooners explode for 14 quick points, only to have the Notre Dame Fighting Irish take control and tighten up the game, 14-7. However, the Oklahoma vs. Notre Dame game slowed down to a defensive struggle in the second quarter. Here is a breakdown of the Oklahoma vs. Notre Dame second quarter recap.

The quarter opened with the Fighting Irish driving, but the Sooners defense locked things down and after a big sack on rushing quarterback Andrew Hendrix, Notre Dame had to punt. Oklahoma started to drive back, but only got to the 43 when the Sooners turned it over on downs after Blake Bell failed to convert on a fourth down.

The next drive saw Notre Dame eat up four minutes of the clock and they successful drove down the field. However, the drive eventually ended with the Sooners third interception of the game, this one by Julian Wilson on the 12 yard line, stopping the Irish drive inside the Red Zone.

Oklahoma then finished off the second quarter with a dominating five minute drive that saw Bell rush for 19 yards, including an impressive 12 yard run on 3rd down, while also completing three of four passes, the fourth a perfect touchdown pass to Lacoltan Bester in the back of the end zone for a 26 yard score. The play was pulled off thanks to impressive blocking and put OU up 21-7 at the end of the first half.
