Resolution of the QB competition

Make no mistake a quarterback needs to emerge before Oklahoma plays its next three games, which many believe to be their toughest stretch. Most Sooner fans have a favorite quarterback candidate and regardless which horse you want to win this race you want to see this resolved soon.

Blake Bell gets his first start this week after Trevor Knight was pulled during the West Virginia game due to a knee injury. The junior has really only seen action in the “Belldozer” Wildcat package and has never really showcased his arm talent. However Blake Bell was the No. 1 rated pro style quarterback according to Max Preps coming out of Bishop Carroll High School in Kansas. He has played in 22 games in his Sooner career completed 50% of the passes he has attempted and thrown 1 interception. This may not be a good figure of how well he throws however since he has only attempted 26 passes in 3 years.

If Bell puts up good numbers this game passing the ball I believe he will cement his role as the starting quarterback for the Sooners for the time being at least. If he does not perform well in this game and struggles early on do not be surprised if Kendall Thompson takes over. According to many sources he was the favorite to win the competition before a foot injury sidelined him for the first two games.
