AP Preseason Top 25: Oklahoma Sooners Rank 16th

The AP just released the AP Preseason Top 25 poll and with only one difference it is the exact same as the coaches poll that came out a couple of weeks ago. The Alabama Crimson Tide ranks No. 1 with 58 first place votes while Ohio State ranks second with one first place vote. Georgia also received a first place vote and sits in the fifth spot.

The only difference in the Top 10 is that the South Carolina Game Cocks rank sixth while Texas A&M Aggies rank seventh. The reason for the difference is that the coaches poll gave the Aggies a first place vote in their poll. Outside of that, both polls have the same teams in the Top 25.

Another similarity between the two polls is that the Oklahoma Sooners rank 16th in both polls, below the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma State Cowboys. The AP Top 25 poll has OSU ranked at 13th, while the coaches poll has them ranked 14th.

Notre Dame, last season’s runner up in the national title game, ranks 14th in the AP Preseason Top 25, while they ranked 11th in the coaches poll. There are six SEC teams in the AP Top 25 poll, followed by five teams from the Big Ten and Pac-12. The Big 12 have four teams, all ranked between 13-20.
