The Oklahoma Sooners released their 2013 college football schedule and all three non-conference opponents were bowl teams in 2012.
First up is Louisiana-Monroe, a school never known as a powerhouse that pulled off a huge win in 2012 over the SEC’s Arkansas Razorbacks. They finished the season playing in their first bowl game in 19 seasons in the Independence Bowl. After an early Big 12 matchup with West Virginia, OU hosts the Tulsa Hurricane, a very familiar team to Sooners’ fans. Tulsa finished 2012 with an 11-3 record and a win over Big 12’s Iowa State Cyclones in the Liberty Bowl.
Then on Sept. 28, OU travels to South Bend to take on Notre Dame, a team they have not beaten since Bud Wilkinson walked the sidelines. Of course, Notre Dame finished 2012 undefeated before falling to Alabama in the national championship football game.
Since 1999, Bob Stoops is 12-5 against BCS conference teams and Notre Dame, with two of those losses coming to the Fighting Irish.
