Since the previous matchup with OU, the Mountaineers have gone 6-2 including a current three game winning streak. Juwan Staten is West Virginia’s leading scorer and also pulls down 3.3 rebounds per game while dishing out 2.8 assists per game. He is a talented guard that the Sooners must contain. West Virginia is a good rebounding team but has trouble scoring at times.
Coming off a good win against an Ohio team and a nice tune up against a Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, the Sooners are looking to start Big 12 play with a second win over West Virginia.
In the last meeting, Amath M’Baye had a solid game with 19 points, 6 rebounds and a block. He will need to come up big against the Mountaineers to get another win. The Sooner bench also played well in the earlier match up and Lon Kruger would love an encore effort.
The Sooners have a little momentum going into their conference slate after their recent victories. Look for it to continue if they can crash the boards and have M’Baye and the bench produce like they have in the past. The game tips at 3 PM CST and can be seen on ESPN 3.
