Four-star tailback Devon Thomas, out of Broken Arrow High School, verbally committed to the Sooners on Nov. 17, a very early commitment for a Class of 2014 prospect. He is an elite prospect at 5’10” and 190 lbs., who has great elusiveness and speed.

With attention from teams all over the country, Thomas ended his commitment to Oklahoma last night.

According to the Tulsa World, Eric Bailey quotes Thomas saying, “I kind of took myself out of the recruiting process a little early, I want to go through the whole process, see other schools, get out of town and see what else is out there.”

Thomas has offers from Oklahoma State, Texas, Michigan and West Virginia. He is also thought to be drawing interest from LSU and Notre Dame.

The good news for Sooner fans is that Oklahoma is loaded at running back for now and in the future, but it always hurts to lose an instate talent like Devon Thomas.

Thomas did mention the Sooners are still in play, but that is yet to be seen and will be a long time before it all plays out with the Class of 2014 National Signing Day a year from next February.
